What it costs
Bands, not a number pulled out of the air
Flat $89 service call covering the visit and full diagnosis, credited against the repair once you approve it.
These are the bands for the Sub-Zero refrigeration work this site takes on, refrigerator repair among it. Each line is a range because the part, the model and how far the unit has to come out of the cabinetry all move the figure. You hear the price for your own repair — a firm number, not a band — after the diagnosis and before anything is fitted, and the $89 service call comes off that number the moment you approve the work.
- Door gasket or seal replacement
- $300–$630
- Evaporator or condenser fan motor
- $310–$680
- Defrost heater, thermostat or sensor
- $290–$670
- Ice maker, water valve or supply line
- $300–$840
- Electronic control board
- $440–$970
- Compressor or sealed-system repair
- $1,300–$3,030
- Replacing the unit instead
- $12,530–$21,320
That last line is a comparable built-in replacement, before installation and cabinetry work. It is the reason a fifteen-year-old built-in is usually worth the repair: the cabinet, the doors and the joinery around them are the expensive part, and they are almost never what failed.

Panel-ready column behind custom fronts, and I assumed pulling it out would wreck the cabinetry. It came down to a temperature sensor reading twenty degrees off. Back in place with no marks on the wood.

Salt air off the beach had eaten the hinge cam on our undercounter unit, so the door hung open a hair and the whole thing sweated. New hinge, new gasket, and it seals properly again.

Our built-in quit during a valley heat spell and the fresh food side sat near sixty by evening. The condenser fan motor had seized, not the compressor as I feared. Fitted that afternoon and steady since.

Common questions
Refrigerator Repair: the two questions we get most
If yours is not here, the phone is the shortest route to an answer — and it is answered 24/7.
(310) 919-2538The fresh food side is warm but the freezer is fine. Is that the compressor?
Rarely. The 600 and 700 series run two independent sealed systems, so a working freezer proves half the machine is healthy. It is usually the evaporator fan, a defrost fault or a thermistor reading wrong on the fresh-food circuit.
The condenser never seems to stop running. Is that normal in a Los Angeles summer?
Longer run times in August are normal; continuous running is not. It usually means the condenser cannot reject heat — coils packed with dust, a failing condenser fan, or a unit boxed into cabinetry with no clearance. All three are cheap to fix and expensive to ignore.

Model, roughly how old, and the symptom. That is enough to book the right visit and put the right parts on the van. The $89 service call covers the trip and the diagnosis, and comes off the repair.
